REFLECTION
The theme for our reflection is the ark arrives and the cloud settles. The Ark of the Covenant was one of the most instrumental symbols of faith and God’s presence. After building the temple, there was the need to place the Ark in the temple to usher the glory of the Lord into the temple. “Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the Most Holy Place, underneath the wings of the cherubim…There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone that Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the people of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt. And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD. Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in thick darkness. I have indeed built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever.” (1 Kings 8: 6,9-13). In other words, the cloud that filled the house of the Lord was the manifestation of the glory or presence of God.
Dear friend, the key lesson we deduce from the presence of the Ark in the temple is that we experience the Glory of God if we allow His Word to live in us. It is important to note that the key element in the Ark is the Law which was received by Moses from God for the instruction and guidance of the people to follow or do the will of God. In the New dispensation, Jesus replaced the Ark because He is the fulfilment of the Law and the Living Word of God who John described as “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:1-5). If we have Jesus in our lives, we will experience the glory of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. If our bodies are the temples of God then Jesus represents the Ark of the New Covenant in our temples for which we experience the Glory of God in our lives. Dear friend, have you allowed Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour? If you have then may you experience the glory of God in your life even as you feed on Jesus as the bread and Word of life. Shalom.
PRAYER
Jesus our Lord and Savour remain in our hearts and be the Ark in our bodily temples even as we continue to experience the glory of God. Amen
