REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is “God really is pleased with you” To be pleased with someone means to derive pleasure, happiness and satisfaction from the person’s achievement or performance. God is really pleased with you means you bring God so much pleasure, happiness and satisfaction. “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased. (Matthew 3:16-17). Jesus brought so much pleasure, happiness and satisfaction to God. We are going to reflect on the reason God is really pleased with Jesus Christ.

Beloved in Lord, God is pleased with Jesus Christ because sin and death came through Adam but obedience and life came through Jesus Christ “For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! (Romans 5:17) Paul again in 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 wrote that “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ, all will be made alive. In other words, God was not really pleased with Adam because of the disobedience that brought about death to him and his descendants but God was really pleased with Jesus Christ because He perfectly obeyed God and graciously brought life to anyone who believes in Him, thus, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16). John the Baptist had earlier revealed to the world that “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29), it is for this reason, God is really pleased with our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Saviour of the world!

Dear friend, is God really pleased with you? It is important for us to understand that God is really pleased with those who are in Christ Jesus. Because God is really pleased with those who are in Christ Jesus, “…there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). How then do we live in Christ for God to be really pleased with us.? We must live by faith, those who have faith in Jesus for their salvation obey His teachings, follow His perfect examples and turn away from the world to live a new life that pleases the Lord, it is, for this reason, Paul again testified to the Galatian Christians that “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) Dear friend, God will not be pleased with us if we are not saved by Christ through faith in Him. What is your relationship with Christ Jesus, have you accepted Him as your Lord and Saviour and are you willing to repent and have Him live in your heart? Jesus gives us the assurance that ” Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 3:19-22) What then happens to those God is not really pleased with because they have not believed in His Son and our Lord Jesus Christ? John gives us a direct answer, “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:18). Beloved in the Lord, we still have another chance today to flee from sin, repent and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour so that God will be really pleased with us, “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) Shalom.
