REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is “your kingdom Come”. Your Kingdom come is a prayer that indicates that the Kingdom of God is expansive and we desire to be under God’s reign. It also means we pledge our allegiance to God as His subjects and humbly come under His protectorate or Kingship.

Dear friend, the Kingdom of God is expansive. In other words, the reign of God is not limited to Heaven but it extends to earth and keeps expanding to wherever God’s people are. For this reason, Isaiah proclaimed, “In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.” (Isaiah 2:2-3
). In simple terms, Isaiah says that the kingdom or the of reign God will first expand to the Israelites and then later expand to the benefit of other nations who are ready to receive the Lord. Isaiah’s prophesy is fulfilled when Jesus Christ came to inaugurate the Kingdom of God and gave access to all who are willing to repent and believe in Him. Jesus is God’s Word that leads us to the Kingdom of God. It is through Him that other nations or the Gentiles have also gained access to the Kingdom of God. It is for this reason, Paul assures us through his letter to the Romans that “…is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of the Gentiles also? Yes, of the Gentiles also, since God is one who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.” (Roman 3:28-29). Regardless of wherever you come from, you will become a beneficiary of the Kingdom of God and He will reign over your life only if you make Jesus your Lord and Saviour.

Beloved in the Lord, when we pray for God’s kingdom to come into our lives, we shall experience His justice and peace in our lives. Isaiah, assures us that “He will judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” (Isaiah 2:4). When we desire the Kingdom or the reign of God over our lives we shall experience peace and justice in our lives. Let us draw closer to the Lord even as we desire to be part of His Kingdom or desire His reign over our lives during this Lent season and beyond. Shalom.

PRAYER

Father, let your Kingdom come to restore our broken world. May we remain protected, and nourished by your word, and experience justice and peace by becoming part of your Kingdom through our Lord Jesus Christ.
