Solomon is anointed King is theme for our reflection. To be anointed means to be consecrated or made sacred and dedicated to God. A king is a male ruler of an independent state, especially one who inherits the position by right of birth. King David had aged and was approaching the end of his reign as King of Israel, therefore, his son Solomon was made King to succeed him. We shall reflect on the fact that God is our lifter or elevator, therefore, we must learn to patient and put our trust in Him.

Dear friend, David had many sons but Solomon was anointed King of Israel. We are grealy admonished to serve God even as we wait on Him for our elevation. Let us not fight for positions and envy other in position but serve the Lord diligently and have His will done in our lives. We are told in 1 Kings 1:5 that “… Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” And he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.” When this development came to the notice of King David, he immediately did the needful by having Solomon, the appointed heir to the throne anointed and made King of Israel. “Then they acknowledged Solomon son of David as king a second time, anointing him before the LORD to be ruler and Zadok to be priest. 23 So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him. 24 All the officers and warriors, as well as all of King David’s sons, pledged their submission to King Solomon. 25 The LORD highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him royal splendor such as no king over Israel ever had before. (1 Chronicles 29:22-25). Dear friend, there is no need to rush in life, God is our elevator and at His own appointed time, He will glory Himself in our lives. Shalom

PRAYER

Almighty God, we pray for the spirit of humility to be able to please You at all times. Let Your will be done in our lives and at your own appointed time elevate us to greatness. Amen
