REFLECTION

The theme for this reflection is “Wisdom at the Dawn of Time.” To understand this theme, we must look closely at its key words. Wisdom is more than just having knowledge or facts; it is the ability to see life from God’s perspective and make righteous choices. The dawn of time refers to the very beginning of all creation, before the earth, skies, and oceans existed. In Proverbs 8, the central lesson is that divine wisdom is not a human invention but an eternal reality woven into the fabric of the universe. King Solomon wrote the Book of Proverbs to guide believers in godly living, and in chapter eight, wisdom is personified as a noble woman who speaks with authority, reminding humanity that listening to God is the foundation for life and order.

Wisdom was present before anything was made. In Proverbs 8:22–23, wisdom declares: “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be.” This reveals that God created everything with intentional order, balance, and purpose. When we build our lives without God, it is like trying to build a house without a foundation. For example, when an architect designs a building, they must respect the laws of physics, or the structure collapses. In the same way, when we make daily decisions about our careers, finances, or families without God’s guidance, we experience confusion and heartbreak. As Colossians 1:16–17 reminds us, all things were created through Christ and in Him all things hold together.

Furthermore, divine wisdom brings genuine joy, stability, and life. In Proverbs 8:30–31, wisdom says: “Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.” Because wisdom was actively involved in crafting the universe, it knows how life works best. Today, many people chase worldly success through dishonest shortcuts, only to end up with stress and regret. However, choosing honest work and integrity brings lasting peace. As Scripture teaches in Proverbs 8:35, “For those who find me find life and receive favour from the Lord.” True joy comes when our daily conduct aligns with the wisdom God established at the dawn of time.

In summary, wisdom is eternal, woven into the created world, and essential for a meaningful life. Ignoring God’s wisdom brings destruction, while embracing it brings peace and divine favour. We are called today to stop relying on our limited human understanding. Choose to seek God daily through His Word, pray for guidance in every decision, and let His eternal truth direct your path.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, I thank You for the gift of Your divine wisdom that has existed from the dawn of time. Forgive me for the times I have relied on my own strength and foolish understanding. Open my heart and mind to seek Your guidance in everything I do. Grant me the grace to walk in integrity, righteousness, and truth every day. May my life bring You joy and honour, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
