REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is “In Jesus’ name” Jesus in Hebrew means God saves. We shall reflect on the fact that Jesus is not only a name, but the name that brings transformation if we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.

Beloved in the Lord, Jesus was not the name of a random and ordinary historical figure, but the name of the Messiah and Saviour who brings transformation to the lives of those who call upon Him or put their faith in Him. After healing the lame beggar at the temple gate in Acts 3:6-7, Peter seized the opportunity to preach about the name of Christ to His fellow Israelites. He said to them,“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.” (Acts 3:16) We have received a special revelation from Peter today, the revelations is that all we need to experience the transformational power of Jesus is faith in His priceless and matchless name. Paul also gave us another reason to have faith in the name of Jesus and mention His name at all times when he wrote to the Philippians, “…God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. “(Philippians 2:9-11) Dear friend in Christ, many of us are accustomed to mentioning the name of our husbands, wives, children and benefactors when we are in trouble, but today we are greatly emboldened to put our faith in the name of Jesus for He has assured us in Matthew 28:20 that “surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” We are limited in our abilities and feeble in our strength; therefore, let us have faith in the name of Jesus, the name that transcends all generations and surpasses all authority.

In summary, we have discovered that Jesus is not only a name but the name that brings transformation if we have faith in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.

May we receive transformation and healing at the mention of the name of Jesus. Amen.
