SINGING A NEW SONG (REVELATION 14: 1-3)

REFLECTION
Singing a new song is the theme for our reflection. In the context of our theme to singing a new song will become the preserve of those who are saved and taken to Heaven. Singing and praising God is going to be our source of joy and preoccupation in Heaven.

Beloved in the Lord, John’s vision gives us hope that this world and all that is within it shall come to pass. Our calling and aim to remain faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ in all our dealings and every situation so that one day we shall part of those who sing a new song before the throne of our almighty and everlasting God. John revealed, “And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. 3 And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. (Revelation 14:2-3) Our prayer is that we shall be found worthy to be part of the firstfruit of the redeemed people of God. The 144,000 people are the firstfruit of those who are saved. In other words, out of those who are saved, some have been selected to sing before the throne of God as the firstfruit of Hia harvested souls who qualify to be in Heaven . The book of Revelations is full of mystical symbols used to reveal eternal truth we pray for divine revelations and wisdom to understand His Word concerning His will.

Those who qualify to sing a new song before the throne of God are those who “…follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. 5 No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.” (Revelation 14:4-5). Again, to qualify to sing a new song before the throne of the Lord, you must accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and become His disciple by listening and obeying Jesus’ admonishment when He said, ““Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so hat when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Luke 12:35-40)

In summary, it must be our utmost desire to be saved and be part of the multitude of believers who would sing a new song before the throne of God. This can only materialise if we follow Jesus faithfully. Shalom.

PRAYER
Holy Spirit, strengthen us to remain prepared and faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ so that when He returns to harvest His firstfruit we shall join other believers to endlessly sing a new song before the throne of God. Amen.
